Access to Renewable Energy PDF Print

In a globalised world, access to electricity is almost taken as a basic human right. It is certainly a symbol of development. But for many rural people, this is still a dream: Around two billion people, about a third of the world’s population do not have access to electricity and rely almost exclusively on fuelwood, agricultural residues and animal dung to meet their energy needs. Sadly, this has become a symbol of poverty. However, without access to electricity, these people are denied most of the social benefits of improved lighting and modern communication.

We at SESEDO, we believe that, with the current level of technological advancement, this situation can be remedied. Through micro credit schemes, we want to enable the rural population to gain access at least to solar home systems. Through promotion and implementation of projects concerning sustainable energy sources such as solar, wind, small hydropower stations and biomass, we want to provide remote communities and businesses with the most reliable and affordable source of electrical energy.
